40th Celebration was a Blast from the Past

The 40th reunion of the class of 69 was a hit, despite a little inclement weather. Things kicked off on Friday at 2:00 with the Parade—several brave souls rode in the back of a pickup and waved to those of us watching on the sidelines under the dry cover of the Geneva Theater marque.

Some even braver souls showed up in the cold rain at the football field but most headed directly to warmth of our private room at Hollihan's. By 9:00pm the room was packed and the only way to be heard was to scream. It was great to see old friends, many who haven't seen each other for decades, connect and renew their friendships, catching up by sharing stories, pictures, and reminiscing about old times. We old timers closed the joint down.

On Saturday at 6:00pm things got rolling again at the American Legion (across from the library). Many who weren't able to attend Fridays festivities, made the dinner. A great time for extending conversations that started the night before, and connecting with new arrivals. A truly great time of fellowship, good food, and good friends. Even spouses who had made previous reunions connected, having their own reunions. My wife said as we left, "I wish I could bring your classmates to my reunion."

Planning pays off

So, after a year of reunion committee meetings, the payoff was very satisfying for all. I think I can speak for the rest of the committee when I say, "thanks for coming and affirming again that we were a unique class at Gecohi."

What's ahead?

We are going to leave up this Web site and hopefully over time the many many classmates that we could not locate, will find us and let us know their whereabouts and their experiences over the years. And please, if you move or change your email address, come back and freshen up your profile so that the next time we all want to get together, the planning will be easier.

Pictures are up on Photobucket and you can see them all here. If you have pictures and need to know how to get them to me, contact me via the Contact form on this site (they all come right to me).

Until then, peace.
